The event that put Henley on the map. It's been running for over 180 years, since 1839 and now attracts an estimated quarter of a milling people for the week that it's held. Henley was chosen as the ideal location because it has a mile-stretch of the Thames that's straight so perfect for rowing.
The date is determined by the first Saturday that falls in July and in 2022 it was extended to 6 days of rowing starting on a Tuesday, to include more women's races.
The Stewards' enclosure is hosted by Henley Royal Regatta and is on the Berkshire side of the river, with Henley town offered as the stunning backdrop and perfect view of the finish line. Just be sure to adhere to the dress code of no dresses above the knee for ladies and jackets to be worn by gentlemen at all times. As of 2021, ladies are now permitted to wear trouser suits too. It's the perfect place to spend a summer's day relaxing in an HRR deckchair with a glass of Pimms.
